Towards a new model of circular economy for Italy, it is a document framing and strategic positioning carried out by the Italian Ministry of the Environment, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, with the aim of providing a general framework for the circular economy and defining Italy’s strategic position on the subject.
This document constitutes an important element for the implementation of the broader National Strategy for Sustainable Development, contributing in particular to the definition of objectives for resource efficiency and more circular and sustainable production models, also thanks to more careful and aware consumption habits.
In this context, the great challenge that Italy, together with the most industrialized countries, will face in the next decade is to respond adequately and effectively to the complex environmental and social dynamics, while maintaining the competitiveness of the production system.
It is important that all institutional and non-institutional actors, small, medium and large enterprises, associations, institutes and universities, professionals and private citizens, participate in the public consultation as an opportunity to suggest solutions and strategies of circular economy that can make our country more competitive and sustainable.
This document is not one of the many publications on the circular economy, nor is it an overview of cases and examples of recycling of materials and products.
A part of the document is dedicated to measuring circularity and how to choose circular materials.
